The original watercolor was 18" x 24". This painting recreates the scene of the Garden Tomb. The Bible says in the place where Jesus was crucified there was a garden and in this garden there was a tomb. This garden belonged to a rick man which the Bible identifies as Joseph of Arimethia. Isaiah 53:9 said that the Messiah would be buried in a rich man's tomb, so it was no accident that this wealthy man was guided by the Holy Spirit to allow someone else to rest in his own burial place.

What is very interesting if you have ever visited the empty tomb in Jersusalem is that at the foot of where this person was laid to rest (Joseph) there is a space carved out an extra three inches where his feet would bave rested. It would be fairly accurate to assume that whoever was laid in this hewn out sepulcher was not the one intended to rest there. At the last minute new measurements were taken for the noble person to occupy this tomb and it was found that they needed a few extra inches. This fits the biblical scenario of Jesus, 'King of the Jews', unexpected death and subsequent need of a place to be buried. But glory to the Lord, He did not stay in the tomb! He was resurrected miraculously , even by His own power according to the promise he made to the one who clained to have the power to sentence Him to death (Pilate). Jesus rose victoriously and is alive forever more.
